Every year the Smart Energy Living Alliance^TM offers energy makeover contests in partnership with participating utilities. (Read about the 2008 winners)

The winning homes receive energy efficiency upgrades that decrease their energy use and increase their comfort. Homes are selected on a number of factors, including exceptionally high energy use. Past winners have saved anywhere from 30%-80% on their energy bills.

The winning homes are used as a model to educate other Colorado homeowners about the many benefits and applications of energy efficiency.

In 2008, the energy makeover contest was held in partnership with Xcel Energy and the City of Boulder.
